Days after an arsonist ignited an explosion that destroyed shops on Broadway, the co-owner of one of those stores has been found dead.

Manjeet Nanda, who owned the Taco Del Mar where the fire was first set, was found on a beach near Squamish. Police said the death was a suicide.

Nanda was reported missing Thursday night, sources told CTV News. Her car was discovered on Friday morning in Furry Creek.

Police found her body floating in the water underneath a cliff in the area.

Last week, Nanda told CTV that she was under great stress after her restaurant and a nearby Starbucks were consumed in a fuel-air explosion.

"I am very shaken up," said Manjeet Nanda. "And hardly standing up ... I'd just like to know what happened."

Nanda, the owner of two Taco del Mar restaurants, wanted to sell the West Broadway location to "take some rest," she told CTV's Shannon Paterson.

She says she "no idea" who may have targeted her restaurant.

Family members told CTV they did not want to comment.

The man who started the fire that led to the explosion was badly burnt and when arrested by Vancouver Police had burns covering some 40 per cent of his body.

Damages to the area were estimated at two million dollars, including structural damage to a nearby medical building.
