There’s still two months to go before the federal election, but some people are already getting sick of the partisan attack ads airing on TV, the radio and online.

Fortunately for them, B.C. independent MP candidate Wyatt Scott’s offbeat YouTube debut may be just what the doctor ordered.

Scott, who’s running in the new riding of Mission-Matsqui-Fraser Canyon, begins his campaign ad by introducing himself from atop a soaring goose.

He then pulls out a sword and leaps into the air.

“I’m an independent candidate and I’m here to fight for Canada!” he yells before thrusting the blade into a dragon’s head.

“University is too damn expensive, services like health care and social programs should be expanded, not cut,” Scott says as he fist bumps a green-skinned alien.

“The indigenous people aren’t even protected by their own government.”

The hopeful independent goes on to announce change is coming to Ottawa before magically growing a beard and destroying a towering robot by shooting lasers from his eyes.

Scott’s video has been online for about a month, racking up about 2,000 views and nine comments that range from positive to gushing.

“Considering moving west just to give you my vote,” one commenter wrote.

In a second, less colourful YouTube video, Scott extols the virtues of running without party ties and outlines what some of his priorities will be if elected.
