An autopsy has confirmed that a Lillooet, B.C. woman found dead last week was killed by a black bear.

Bernice Evelyn Adolph, 72, was found dead in the woods near her home on Friday. Bite marks showed that bears had chewed on her body, and dental records were needed to confirm her identity

An autopsy was performed on Monday, proving that it was a bear -- and not natural causes -- that killed her.

Four black bears were shot over the weekend on suspicion that they had fed on Adolph's remains.

Samples from the four animals have been taken to a lab in Edmonton, were scientists will determine whether they fed on the dead woman.
