Vancouver police poured out hundreds more bottles of booze and made dozens more arrests after the second game in the Stanley Cup finals than the first.

Officers poured out 891 bottles of liquor overnight, up from 325 on Wednesday, and made 46 arrests for either breach of peace or public intoxication. Only eight people were arrested following Game 1.

Const. Jana McGuinness said the increased numbers were expected given that it was a Saturday, adding that the crowd of roughly 70,000 was generally well-behaved.

"This is a big, happy crowd and that's great because it's just a pleasure to police," McGuinness said Saturday night, noting that officers had nearly had their fill of high-fiving partiers.

The main police concern was partiers climbing on buildings and structures, McGuinness said, though one officer was taken to hospital for a checkup after an arrest with a rowdy fan.

Police said Saturday's sunny weather was a contributing factor the large turnout downtown.

The forecast is also warm for Monday and Wednesday, when the Canucks will face the Bruins for Games 3 and 4 in Boston, and police expect crowds in the tens of thousands to turn up downtown then as well.

McGuinness urged partiers to leave liquor at home or drink in a licensed establishment to avoid having their alcohol seized.
