A 26-year-old woman has been charged following what Mounties are calling the biggest drug bust the Kootenays has ever seen.
Canadian Border Services Agency officers found more than 35 kilograms of cocaine while searching a car at the Waneta Port of Entry in Trail last July.
The huge haul of drugs was stashed in a false compartment near the trunk of the vehicle, according to authorities.
The RCMP’s Federal Serious and Organized Crime unit continued the investigation and the woman allegedly driving the car, Kelowna resident Caitlin Christine Gladdish, was eventually charged with importing a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Gladdish is scheduled to appear in court on March 5.
