Mounties have issued a warning to women not to walk alone on the University of British Columbia campus after a second attack was reported this week.

Police say a woman was walking on Biological Sciences Road early Thursday morning when she was grabbed by a man dressed in dark clothes.

The assailant, who is not known to the victim, then fled the scene. The woman was not physically harmed.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, 30-35 years old, 5-11 tall with dark hair and eyes. He was wearing dark blue jeans, a dark windbreaker and a dark baseball cap.

"We're encouraging women on the UBC campus to be vigilant, to carry cell phones and to avoid walking alone, especially at night," Sgt. Peter Thiessen said in a release.

Last month a female student was approached on University Boulevard by a man who then tried to grope her.

She managed to escape without injury.

Thiessen said Mounties are working closely with Campus Security and "have been directed to be more vigilant with their patrols."

Anyone with information on the attacks is asked to contact the University RCMP detachment at 604-224-1322 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
