A growing petition is calling on Vancouver to turn the iconic Burrard Bridge into the world’s largest Pride flag.

The proposal calls for a large section of the causeway to be covered in a rainbow flag that will be signed by thousands of Vancouverites as they celebrate Vancouver Pride Weekend next month.

Organizers say the transformation will be a symbol of acceptance and inclusion.

“Vancouver is an inclusive city, let's show the world,” the petition reads. “This is your opportunity to show your love and support for your city, and the LGBTQ community.”

People who signed the petition agreed.

“I'm proud to say I'm from a city which is respectful and accepting to all people,” Lauryn Beck wrote.

As of Tuesday afternoon the petition had garnered 733 signatures.

The rainbow would be officially unveiled on July 30 to kick off Pride weekend.
