Mounties are searching for a hit-and-run driver who injured a teenage girl in Surrey Friday evening.

The 14-year-old victim was struck crossing a marked crosswalk at 75th Avenue and 140th Street at around 5 p.m.

She suffered head and leg injuries and was rushed to Surrey Memorial Hospital, where police said she was listed in good condition.

Witnesses said the driver didn’t stop after the accident and was seen heading northbound on 140th at high speed.

The suspect vehicle is described as an older Toyota, possibly a Corolla, that is either brown or grey. Investigators believe it should have front-end damage, judging from car parts that were left at the scene.

Mounties urge the driver to come forward, and are calling on anyone with information on the hit-and-run to contact the Surrey detachment at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
