The pregnant teenage girlfriend of the father-of-three murdered in Chilliwack believes he was killed in an altercation that went “way too far.”

Police were alerted to a property in the city’s downtown core around 8 p.m. Monday night.

Witnesses tell CTV News shots were fired after a dispute between a man outside an apartment building and a group of people in a ground floor suite.

Courtney Csada says her boyfriend David Williams was shot, and could not be revived after first responders arrived.

“The brutality of it… I found out he'd been shot right in the face,” the 18-year-old told CTV Morning Live.

Csada, who is expecting a child in four months, said Williams also had three children that live with their mother in Washington State.

She believes that Williams may have gotten into a verbal argument with people living nearby.

“I think someone was misjudging his character or saying things because he had been in jail and had been released and someone was mocking the fact that we are about to start a new little family of our own,” she said.

Csada says she and Williams have both struggled with addiction in the past, but they had cleaned up for the sake of their future child.

“We wanted to start a healthy beginning for the baby and make sure that we both stay strong,” she said.

Williams is described as a “family man” who would go to great lengths to protect his loved ones.

“I'm just so lost right now because he gave me my strength. He gave a lot of people their strength,” said Csada.

The case has been taken over by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, who are calling the incident targeted.

Investigators are expected to be at the scene for the day speaking with witnesses and collecting evidence.
