Mounties in Grande Prairie, Alta., say they’ve arrested a 26-year-old man suspected of robbing nine banks in three provinces since Dec. 1.

The man was arrested at around 2:30 p.m. on Friday at a motel in Grande Prairie, just two days after allegedly robbing a bank in Dawson Creek, B.C.

The prolific crime spree began at a bank in Princeton, B.C. on Dec. 1., and since then, the same suspect is believed to have robbed eight more banks.

The suspect is also accused of robbing banks in Merritt, Vernon, Aldergrove, several towns in Alberta, and Swift Current, Sask.

In each incident, the suspect was described as a bearded, slim man between 25 and 35 years old, and typically dressed in a toque, sunglasses and gloves.

Police said the man has no fixed address, and will be held in custody until he makes a court appearance.

The man’s name, the charges he’s facing, and the details of his next court appearance will be announced on Feb. 2, police said.
