Police believe they have located the remains of a woman and her husband who were reported missing in mid-April.

Detectives in Snohomish County, Wash. located the remains in a remote area north of the couple's home, near where their vehicles had been previously located.

Though officials are waiting on confirmation from the Snohomish County Medical Examiner, police said they had reason to believe the remains were that of 46-year-old Monique Patenaude of Burnaby and her 45-year-old American husband Patrick Shunn.

Arlington residents Patenaude and Shunn were reported missing by neighbours on April 12, when their livestock was left unattended. Detectives searched the home and vehicles of a man who lived near the couple, and determined that there was enough evidence to suggest they had been killed.

The neighbour, John Reed, and his brother Tony Reed were accused in the murders, and Tony was arrested at the U.S./Mexico border. He has been charged with helping his brother with the murder.

Police said information they'd received from Tony, currently in custody at the Snohomish County Jail, helped them to locate the bodies.
