The body of a “Jane Doe” found off of a gravel path in North Vancouver two years ago has been identified, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

Iranian national Fatemah Norouzy-Pooresfahany, or Sara Norouzy, was living in North Vancouver at the time of her murder, IHIT spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Pound confirmed in a news conference Tuesday.

The 31-year-old's body was found off a path in the 2000-block of Curling Road on Aug. 18, 2012.

Police believed she met with foul play and completed a 3D approximation in hopes someone would recognize her.

Her mother traveled from Iran earlier this year to look for her daughter. She was ultimately identified through DNA testing, according to IHIT.

In a news release, Pound said Nourouzy moved to Canada by herself in 2011 and had minimal contact with her mother.

She was homeless and stayed in shelters in the Lower Mainland, including one in North Vancouver.

She was last seen alive at the end of July, three weeks before her remains were found.

Police are asking for the public's help in providing more clues about her death. Anyone who had contact with Norouzy is asked to call the IHIT tipline at 1-877-551-4448 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
