Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying human remains found in North Vancouver on Aug. 18.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has released a sketch and photo of the woman's teeth in hopes of identifying the murder victim.

IHIT announced Wednesday the victim is between 25 and 30 years old, has black wavy hair and was wearing dark pants made by a European brand and Adidas sneakers.

Sgt. Jennifer Pound said the grisly discovery was made off a gravel foot trail near the 2000-block of Curling Road.

The body was found by a local resident after several neighbours noticed a terrible smell emanating from the area.

“You can smell it a bit now, it comes in whiffs,” said Paul Murphy, who lives next to the crime scene.

IHIT is asking anyone with information to call police at 1-877-551-4448 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 if they wish to remain anonymous.
