Health officials were called to investigate after a Fraser Valley woman said she found half of a mouse in a fast-food salad.

The woman posted two photos on Facebook on Thursday, writing that she found a "mouse head" in her food.

"I ate most of it before it was discovered," she wrote.

Wendy's marketing director Lisa Deletroz told CTV News that a customer had been through the drive-thru of an Abbotsford restaurant, and ordered a Summer Berry Salad.

The customer later contacted the location and told staff she'd found part of a rodent in her meal.

When the store was alerted, they immediately stopped selling the salads in the restaurant, Deletroz said.

"The quality and integrity of our product is paramount," she told CTV News.

They called in a pest control company to do an inspection, though they'd just had a routine inspection by Fraser Health two days before and had no issues.

Deletroz said they haven't had any other complaints across Canada, and are trying to find out what happened.

"It's very disturbing and it's something that we absolutely need to understand," she said.

Fraser Health said that they'd received a complaint about the Wendy's, and examined the restaurant again.

"There were no signs or evidence of rodents, or issues with rodents, at this particular restaurant," spokesperson Tasleem Juma said Friday.

"We've never had a history of issues so we are not concerned from a public health perspective."

When nothing was found in the second inspection, the Wendy's began selling the salads again.

Fraser Health notified the Canadian Food Inspection Agency of the report, and is speaking with the company that supplies produce to the restaurant.
