A surveillance video of a dangerous driver who sent pedestrians on a downtown Vancouver sidewalk running for safety has police trying to track down a suspect.

Witnesses told police a Chevrolet Camaro was being driven erratically north on Hornby Street the morning of Feb. 6.

The car went over a curb and on to the sidewalk on the west side of the street, nearly colliding with pedestrians before it turned left on Dunsmuir Street, according to police.

A surveillance camera captured the Camaro driving down the sidewalk before it turned down Dunsmuir. As pedestrians run away, the car briefly comes to a stop and a man can be seen trying to open the driver’s side door before it quickly takes off.

Police said they want to track down the witness who tried to open the door. Anyone who might have information is asked to call 604-717-9974.

The car is described as a newer model Camaro convertible with a black top.

Nobody was injured in the incident.
