Another wildfire was sparked late Saturday night just 10 kilometres south of Squamish, B.C.

The fire is burning just off the Sea to Sky Highway near Murrin Provincial Park and is estimated to be 1.5 hectares large.

BC Hydro was on scene Sunday morning to shut down a number of power lines in dangerous proximity to the fire.

"Our focus is on protecting the infrastructure and minimizing the disruption of services," fire information officer Mike McCulley said.

The Squamish Fire Department was called to the scene just after midnight Saturday, and helicopters began bucketing the flames early Sunday morning.

So far, no highway closures or power outages have been reported.

"At this time we're pretty happy to report there are no highway closures at all," McCulley said.

The cause is under investigation, but a witness reported an explosion on the power lines by the Sea to Sky highway on Saturday night.
