It wasn't just residents who were forced to flee the flames in Lillooet, B.C. when a fire evacuation order was issued last Sunday. Dozens of pets had to leave as well.
It meant that Noah's Wish, a volunteer animal organization, was kept busy accepting hundreds of pets from residents who had no way of caring for their animals when they were forced to leave town.
It also had to look after abandoned pets, which were brought in from the fire zone by emergency workers.
But it wasn't just cats and dogs that the rescue centre took care of.
Its staff found themselves dealing with birds, chinchillas, rabbits and even fish.
But now that the evacuation order has been lifted, the animals can't wait to go home.
They will be reunited with their owners on Saturday.
