Sex charges have been laid against two student teachers in Metro Vancouver for allegedly carrying on inappropriate relationships with pupils.
Police say Brian William Davis, a 22-year-old university student studying kinesiology, was doing a practicum at an Abbotsford high school when he befriended a 15-year-old girl.
The two allegedly had contact outside of school hours through social networking sites, text messages and in person.
Investigators allege the two engaged in sexual touching on April 3, 2010. A few days later, police received a complaint about Davis, and a probe was launched.
He was arrested on Thursday morning and has been charged with one count of sexual interference. The maximum penalty is 10 years in jail.
Anyone with information about the incident, or any other incidents involving Davis, are asked to call the Abbotsford Police Department's Major Crimes Unit at 604-859-5225.
Student assaulted in Surrey
Another student teacher, 24-year-old Michael Herrera, has also been charged for allegedly assaulting one of his students.
Mounties say Herrera was working on his practicum in the Surrey School District in May when they received a complaint from a female student.
The girl, whose age has not been released, alleged Herrera had an inappropriate relationship with her, spurring an investigation by the Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Section.
Herrera was arrested this week and charged with three counts, including sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching and sexual interference.
