Police are investigating a disturbing and vicious attack on a nesting goose in Abbotsford last weekend.

The animal was guarding eggs on an upper level of the Seven Oaks Mall parkade last Saturday morning when a group of three teenage boys started hitting her.

A security guard found the goose covered in blood later that morning. Despite her injuries, the animal was still protecting her eggs.

Experts say gaggles of up to 12 geese nest at the parkade every year.

Police have obtained surveillance footage of the attacks, and told CTV News they are also investigating reports that another goose may have been attacked and killed a block away.

Officers are now conducting regular checks of the area and working to identify the teen suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
