A teenager is in hospital with serious injuries after a mid-day shooting in Surrey, B.C., on Wednesday.

The victim, a young man in his late teens, was found near Surrey Memorial Hospital at about 12:30 p.m., after being driven there with what police are calling "very serious" gunshot wounds.

Police were then called to the intersection of 124 Street and Boundary Drive East, after receiving a report of gunshots fired.

Surrey RCMP Insp. Dave Attfield told CTV News that the victim was in a vehicle when he was shot.

"It appears that the victim was travelling in a grey pickup truck through this area, and the suspects may have been driving in a vehicle that was similar to a Pontiac Grand Am, green in colour," Attfield said.

Police do not believe the shooting was random. "It does appear the incident was targeted," Attfield said.

The Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit is investigating, and no suspects are in custody, and police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call 604-599-0502.
