Swimmers rescued after being swept into rapids in Creston, B.C.

Two people are recovering after being swept away while swimming in Goat River in Creston, B.C.

Creston RCMP were called to the waterway on Wednesday after receiving a call that two swimmers had been caught by high, fast moving water and swept into rapids.

Creston Fire Rescue, Canyon-Lister Fire Rescue and Search and Rescue were deployed to assist the Mounties.

The swimmers were later found along the shoreline by Fire Rescue crews.

They were treated at the scene by BC Ambulance Service before being taken to hospital for assessment.

Creston RCMP says it has engaged its local Victim Services Unit to assist the swimmers and their families.
