A motorcyclist has died following a crash in Vancouver’s Kitsilano Christmas Eve.

Around 4:25 p.m. Tuesday, Christmas Eve, the motorcyclist collided with an SUV at the intersection of Cornwall Avenue and Balsam Street, the Vancouver Police Department said in a release Wednesday afternoon.

The 44-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene, while a female passenger on the bike was sent to hospital with serious injuries, police said.

“Police believe the motorcycle, a 2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000, was heading west on Cornwall Avenue prior to striking the SUV,” the VPD said in the statement.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who may have dashcam video from the scene to contact the VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
