The breakdown of votes for the harmonized sales tax shows a divide between Surrey voters and those who cast their ballots in the North Shore.

Of the five ridings with the highest percentage voting to extinguish the tax, two were in Surrey. On the other hand, the top five ridings who voted to keep the tax included three from the North Shore.

A whopping 75.51 per cent voted to abolish the HST in the riding of Surrey-Green Timbers, bringing it to the top of the list for those who checked "yes" on the ballot.

West Vancouver-Capilano took the top spot for ridings that wanted to keep the HST with 64.52 per cent in favour.
