The victim of an early morning shooting near the Surrey/Langley border is in critical condition in hospital, according to the Surrey RCMP.
The man was shot near the intersection of 188 Street and 57 Avenue around 2:00 a.m., close to the Sunrise Golf and Racquet Club.
Neighbours report hearing four or five gunshots, followed by a car speeding away.
The victim managed to flag down a passing motorist, who drove him to Langley Memorial Hospital. He was then transported to Royal Columbian Hospital, where he remains.
Police have not confirmed his identity and the suspect is still on the loose.
Mounties have not said if the incident is targeted, or whether it is drug or gang-related.
The Surrey RCMP major crimes unit has taken over the investigation and is hoping to speak with anyone who may have information about what happened.
