The teenaged son of Surrey realtor Colin Hill is paying tribute to his father who was killed protecting his family during a home invasion.

Hill was gunned down Sunday night and now his son has written a moving statement about his father.

"I'm going to miss seeing my dad sitting on the seats watching my hockey games,” Matthew Hill wrote. “I'm going to miss hanging out with him. I'm going to miss every single little thing about him and what he does."

Family friend Lowell Jordan is not surprised by these sentiments.

“Colin was always a wonderful father, very proud of his family,” Jordan told CTV News.

“They’re still going through grief, mourning, but Becky herself has been very strong and [so has] her son Matthew,” he said.

Jordan is encouraging people to support the Hill family at the upcoming memorial.

“Colin set a very high standard to live by. I’m pretty sure Matthew and the family will continue that legacy,” he said.

Matthew also referenced the person he believes killed his father.

“So all I want is for the man that did what he did to my dad for the stupidest reason possible, to get justice and stay in jail forever, so he can never do what he did to another person," he wrote.

The funeral for Colin Hill will be held Wednesday July 22nd at Victory Memorial Park Centre at 14831 28th Avenue. The viewing is from 12-1p.m., the service will take place from 1-2 p.m. followed by the burial until 2.30 p.m.

Khouri Green, the 22-year-old charged in the case, is due back in court on September 14.
