Six people have been charged in the horrific sexual assault of a boy, and the assault of a second boy, Prince George Mounties announced Friday.

Hayden Lee Alwood, 18, Mercedes Rae Jewett, 20, two 17-year-old males, a 15-year-old male, and one 15-year-old girl have been charged in the attacks.

Each has been charged with aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm and two counts of unlawful confinement.

Officers received an anonymous tip Monday directing them to a local apartment building, where they found one of the victims lying unconscious in a snow bank.

He was taken to the University Hospital of Northern B.C. for treatment, where he remained in serious but stable condition Thursday night.

Mounties believe the boy, whose age has not been released, was lured to the apartment before being beaten and sexually assaulted by the group.

The second boy is believed to have been lured to the same apartment, but suffered a less-severe attack.

All six will remain in custody, at least until the Jan. 16 court appearance.

In the days after the two victims were discovered, RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass said police determined the victims were targeted and lured to an apartment building where they were assaulted by a group of people.

"Definitely unusual, definitely disturbing, definitely something that we are not accustomed to seeing, and I guess we'll just have to wait though the court proceedings and see how that goes," Douglass said in an interview.

A police request for public help has also been successful, he said.

"Investigators have received several tips since our first media release," Douglass said in a news release. "This investigation remains a priority for the Prince George RCMP and every tip will be followed up."
