Various Frontier and Whole Foods Market brand seasonings and spices have been recalled due to a possible salmonella contamination in New Jersey.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the following foods, manufactured by Frontier Natural Products Co-op, should not be consumed:

  • Frontier Curry Powder (UPC 0 89836 0139 9)
  • Frontier Black Pepper Coarse Grind (UPC 0 89836 00181 8)
  • Frontier Peppercorns Black Whole (UPC 0 89836 00183 2)
  • Whole Foods Market 365 Asian Seafood Seasoning (UPC 0 99482 72683 6)
  • Whole Foods Market 365 Mediterranean Seafood Seasoning (UPC 0 99482 72687 4)
  • Whole Foods Market 365 Mediterranean Rotisserie Seasoning (UPC 0 99482 72684 3)
  • Whole Foods Market 365 Toronto Steak & Chicken Rub (UPC 0 99482 72686 7)

All products contain black pepper that was voluntarily recalled by U.S.-based Mincing Overseas Spice Company. No illnesses have been reported with the consumption of the products.

The CFIA warns that food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled.

Salmonella may cause serious or even deadly infections in young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.

Others may experience short-term symptoms including headaches, vomiting, diarrhea and nausea.
