Melting snow and rainfall has increased the flood threat for some rivers in B.C.'s Peace region.
The B.C. River Forecast Centre has upgraded an advisory to a flood watch on the Moberly River near Fort St. John, the Pine River and tributaries to the Peace River around Hudson's Hope, Taylor and Fort St. John.
The centre says river levels were already high in the area from recent significant rainfall, and now warmer weather is quickly melting nearby snow.
Environment Canada is forecasting rain of up to 50 millimetres in the next few days, which could also push river levels over their banks in some areas of northeastern B.C.
A flood watch means the river levels are rising and will approach or could exceed the river banks.
On Friday, the B.C. government moved in to dismantle two homes on the edge of the eroding Cottonwood River, near Quesnel, in B.C.'s Cariboo, because the homes posed an environmental risk.
