How could it happen? That's the question the parents of a teenaged boy who died in a car accident earlier this week want answered. Sanjeeve Sharma was a passenger in a car his parents say was driven by a boy who shouldn't have been allowed on the road.

Sara Sharma spent most of Wednesday sharing memories of her 15 year-old-son Sanjeeve.

She still can't believe he eldest son is not coming home.

"I called him about 7:00 p.m. saying do you want me to pick you up? He said no I've got a ride. And he never made it,'' she said.

On Monday evening at around 9:00 pm, Sanjeeve was a backseat passenger in a car that went out of control on 128th Street at 82 Ave. in Surrey, B.C.

It struck a lamp standard, and Sanjeeve was critically injured and rushed to hospital, but there was nothing medical staff could do to save him.

On Tuesday night, hundreds of people came out to a candle light vigil to remember Sanjeeve.

One of the young men in attendance was also a passenger in the car that night.

The driver of the car was only 16. Police are investigating to determine if he was legally allowed to drive the car with two teenagers as passengers. That's a question that haunts Sanjeeve's mom and dad.

The family is busy now planning Sanjeeve's funeral, which is scheduled for Friday in Delta. Until then, his dad intends to keep wearing the shirt Sanjeeve loved to wear next to his heart.
