Police are still searching for a possibly injured man who fled after a wild shootout near the Burnaby-Coquitlam border.

Police initially arrested four men after numerous shots were fired outside a Coquitlam home near Como Lake Ave. Thursday afternoon. It is believed several people inside the home opened fire on each other.

A fifth man managed to elude an extensive search with police and sniffer dogs. Police say this suspect may have suffered "some level of injury" during the shootout.

Cpl. Peter Thiessen says two other men fled in a possibly stolen car and were later arrested near the area of Coquitlam Centre. Both remain in police custody.

Thiessen said the arrested men had no known gang ties and police are still trying to determine a motive for the attack.

Yesterday's gunplay is the latest in a string of nine targeted shootings over the past 10 days.

Premier Gordon Campbell is holding a news conference today to unveil new measures aimed at combating gang violence that has flared recently in Metro Vancouver, the Okanagan and Prince George.
