The Port Moody Police Department has issued a second public safety warning to residents regarding a man they say is a "significant threat to public safety".
They say Port Moody resident Dennis Karbovanec is a close associate of the Red Scorpion gang and of Jonathan Bacon, the subject of its first public safety warning issued February 3.
Karbovanec, 28, was recently targeted in a shooting, arriving at Mission Memorial Hospital Dec 31, 2008 with two bullet wounds and wearing a bullet-proof vest. He was treated and left, refusing to co-operate with police.
He also stands charged with weapons-related offences and is currently out on bail with the condition of not possessing any firearms or weapons.
The police say anyone choosing to associate or conduct business with Karbovanec is putting their personal safety at considerable risk. They have released a photograph of Karbovanec and are increasing surveillance and police presence around his home.
He is described as Caucasian, 5' 11" and 201 pounds, with green eyes, scars on his right hand and tattoos of tribal art on his upper right arm.
