The registered owner of the car alleged to be responsible for a deadly hit-and-run incident in Surrey nearly two weeks ago, has come forward to police.
On July 12, 61-year-old Dilbag and 60-year-old BakhShish Badh were killed when their vehicle was rear-ended by a white Acura and subsequently smashed into a street pole.
Two Indo-Canadian men from the Acura fled the scene.
Now, Surrey RCMP says the registered owner of the white Acura has come forward.
Accompanied by a lawyer, the man gave a statement to police.
But police still aren't saying if the man is the driver of the Acura.
Up until today, police had only identified the owner of the car, but were unsuccessful in contacting him.
Last week, Const. Dave Babineau, a spokesman for the RCMP's E Division in Vancouver admitted one of the difficulties with hit and run cases is getting people to come forward.
"These types of investigations could go from a week, to a year, to two years," said Const. Babineau.
Police are still looking for other witnesses who may have seen the Acura in the moments before the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call Surrey RCMP or Crimestoppers.
