The man convicted of manslaughter in the Air India bombing is asking to be let out of prison.
Inderjit Singh Reyat has served his entire sentence for his role in the bomb blast that killed 329 people in June, 1985.
Under normal circumstances Reyat would have been released last month, however he's accused of lying during his testimony in the Air India trial and faces a perjury charge.
Reyat's lawyer, Ian Donaldson, made lengthy arguments under a publication ban in B.C. Supreme Court today over why his client should be released on bail.
When Reyat entered the high-security courtroom today he greeted several of his family members with a smile.
Reyat has been in custody, either waiting for trial, awaiting extradition from Britain, or serving two manslaughter sentences since 1988.
