One person is dead and at least one more injured after another deadly avalanche near Revelstoke, B.C.

According to the RCMP, the avalanche struck at 3:57 p.m. on Friday, one kilometre from Eagle Pass Peak on Eagle Pass Mountain.

A group of snowmobile drivers were hit by the slide. Rescuers are now attempting to confirm the size and number of the group to determine if any other riders were trapped.

RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk told CTV News that the group may have been as large as ten people.

This is the second deadly slide in the area in less than a week.

Kurtis Reynolds and Shay Snortland, both 33-year-old Alberta residents, were killed on March 13 when a wall of snow crashed down on a crowd of about 200 spectators at an unsanctioned snowmobiling event.

A further 31 people were injured in that slide.

A team of RCMP investigators launched their examination into the events surrounding the avalanche Monday afternoon. Criminal charges are possible.
