Exactly two weeks after it was sparked, a massive wildfire in northeastern B.C. remains just 30 per cent contained.

The Forest Service says the 231-square kilometre blaze at the junction of the Smith and Liard rivers is contained on the south side of the Alaska Highway but continues to rage on the north side of the route.

Fifteen people in several small communities west of Fort Nelson remain on evacuation alert.

Meanwhile, an evacuation order ended yesterday for about 60 people forced out of their homes by the 80-square kilometre Tyaughton Lake fire west of Lillooet.

The fire is now 70 per cent contained but is still a concern on the extreme eastern flank, meaning evacuation orders remain for about 15 residents of Marshall Lake, Liza Lake and Carol Lake.
