A missing toddler who sparked a widespread police search Tuesday in B.C.'s Okanagan has been found -- in her own bed.

RCMP in Kelowna mounted a full aerial and ground sweep after Shiah Stenson, 3, was said to have disappeared from her home shortly after noon.

At 3:30 p.m., Mounties reported that the child had been located, under the covers in her bed.

"Yes, her room had been searched, along with the rest of the residence, but it is not entirely unusual to overlook a small child under blankets," RCMP Const. Steve Holmes said in a release.

"Missing children have been found in their own homes many times after the homes have been searched, under laundry, under beds, even under bean bag chairs."
