Live grenade given to Langley, B.C., legion

This was a donation that could have detonated.

The RCMP say they were called to the Royal Canadian Legion in Langley earlier this week after a grenade was found in a donated satchel once belonging to a Second World War veteran.

The Legion was evacuated and police and military bomb disposal teams were called in, who determined the grenade was live and unstable because it was rusty.

The bomb was taken away to be detonated elsewhere and no one was hurt.
