VERNON, B.C. - A family who ran 600 kilometres from Vernon, B.C., to Vancouver has raised $22,000 for cancer research.
Six kids ranging in age from six to 15 in the Preston-Gosselin clan left their home on Canada Day and finished the run two weeks later.
They're exceeded their goal of raising $20,000, with cash from a text-to-donate number still coming in.
The kids' mother, Natalie Preston, says that money will be tallied in about a month.
The run was the idea of one of the children, who was inspired by Terry Fox's cross-country Marathon on Hope in 1980.
One of the their relatives and a teacher also died from cancer.
