A short film chronicling the adventures of the legendary Johnny Canuck, the rough and tumble lumberjack personification of the Vancouver Canucks, is making waves online.
The high-definition video highlights the travels and triumphs of the action hero while cleverly mirroring the history of the Vancouver Canucks franchise and their 2011 Stanley Cup run.
The rugged man, wielding an axe, is seen running through the woods followed by a trench coat-clad villain.
"One year, I tried to outrun a Ranger for seven days, but then I failed," he says, remembering the Canucks' devastating failed Cup run against the New York Rangers in 1994.
"Many years before that I faced off against an Islander, and surrendered," he says, referencing the Canucks first Stanley Cup appearance in 1982, when the team lost to the New York Islanders.
But Johnny Canucks doesn't give up, or dwell on past losses. In fact, he gets pumped up on the victories of the current hockey season, and says this is his year to win.
"This year I've blackened Hawks. I've preyed on Predators and endangered Sharks. And now it's time to ruin the Bruin."
The video was viewed almost 9,000 times in less than 24 hours after its YouTube debut on Thursday.
