There were many magical Olympic moments over the last two weeks, from Canada's first gold-medal win to Joannie Rochette nailing her skate just days after her mother's death.

No doubt, you captured many of them on your camera.

Chris Olsen took a variety of pictures to four retail outlets to have them printed to see which one offers the best prints. We also printed them ourselves using a portable colour printer.

CTV cameraman and veteran photographer Ted Huang was tapped to evaluate the results.

Huang said the results were pretty close but there were differences.

Comparing photos of the same building, Huang said one photo had details that popped out like a 3D image.

In Huang's view, London Drugs delivered the best overall image. He gave London Drugs an "excellent" rating. But at 48 cents a picture, they were also the most expensive.

The best combination of picture and value went to Costco. Huang rated the picture quality second only to London Drugs. At 15 cents, the prints were also the cheapest. But Costco is for members only.

Huang rated Lens and Shutter equal to Costco for picture quality, but it was more expensive at 35 cents each.

The Canon photo printer also produced a very good quality image for about 40 cents per picture.

At the bottom of the list was Wal-Mart. Huang rated their pictures, which cost 19 cents each, as "fair." He said the colours and contrasts were flat.

The good news for consumers is quality has improved and the differences -- while still noticeable to a trained eye -- are a lot less than they used to be.

And if you ever get a photo you don't think is up to standard, ask them to print it again.
