The British Columbia government has appointed a new ferry commissioner.
Gordon Macatee will take over as head of the B.C. Ferry Commission as of May 1, 2011.
Macatee is replacing Martin Crilly, who has served as commissioner since 2003.
The commission regulates BC Ferries, a former Crown corporation that continues to receive government funding.
Macatee is a former bureaucrat who has served as deputy minister in several provincial government departments.
Most recently, he was a project executive for the Vancouver Olympics organizing committee.
