A well known former B.C. gang member has been shot to death in Calgary.
David Tajali, known to be aligned with the United Nations gang, was gunned down in luxury car in the southwest part of the city early Sunday morning.
Responding to reports of gunfire around 2:30 a.m., police arrived to find Tajali sitting in a black BMW convertible with B.C. plates suffering gunshot wounds. He was rushed to hospital, but died a short time later.
A female passenger escaped without injury.
Tajali's brother was also shot, but was released from hospital Sunday.
"Oh it was just mayhem," witness Alex Bird told CTV Calgary.
"They didn't have police lines up or anything it's just like the whole road was completely swarming with cop cars cops walking around trying to check everything out."
Two and a half years ago, David Tajali was believed to be the target of a shooting in Richmond, B.C., that ended in the death of an innocent man.
Kirk Holfield was driving an identical Dodge Ram truck near Tajali's home.
Tajali survived a gunshot wound in 2006.
He moved to Calgary about a year ago.
Inspectors have released few details about Tajali's death, including indications it may be gang or drug-related.
