BC Pavillion Corporation says construction on BC Place in Vancouver is one step closer to being finished after workers completed the installation of 36 masts on the new roof.
PavCo announced in a release that the final mast -- each of which weigh 240 tonnes and stand 50 metres tall -- was lifted into place Thursday.
David Podmore, Chairman of PavCo, said that the next phase of the project will be to install the cables that will support the retractable fabric roof.
The $565-million renovation is scheduled to be completed this fall. The re-vamped stadium will be home to the BC Lions and the Vancouver Whitecaps and will host the 99th annual Grey Cup on Nov. 27.
