A North Delta family is appealing to the public this weekend in a bid to find their daughter who vanished more than a year and a half ago from their home.

Brittany Stalman, 17 years old at the time, left her parent's home after a dispute with her boyfriend on November 13, 2006, and has never been found.

Brittany's father, Mike, and her sister Stacy, handed out green bracelets and pamphlets at two shopping malls near 72nd Avenue and 120th Street on Saturday to garner help from the public to locate her.

"I don't think someone can just disappear into thin air," said Brittany's father, Mike Stalman. "Something, somebody has to know something and I don't think they're coming out to say it."

The worst part is not knowing what happened to her and continually wondering about her, they say.

Last week, at a similar information campaign, volunteers were approached by a young man who hinted he may have information about Brittanny's disappearance, but he left before giving his name.

"Along came a parent, and I started talking to that parent and unfortunately he disappeared on us," said Larry Skwarek, general manager of the organization Protect Our Children. "(But) we do have his description."

Stalman says he doesn't believe his daughter would have killed herself, although she did suffer from depression.

"It's been a long time, I'm sure a lot of people don't remember even if they saw something, but you just can't give up hope, you have to keep trying," said Stalman.
