Coroners had to turn to dental records to confirm the identities of the two men who died in the Burns Lake sawmill explosion a week ago.
The BC Coroners Service has identified the victims as 45-year-old Robert Luggi and 42-year-old Carl Charlie, both of whom had been missing and presumed dead since the blast at the Babine Forest Products mill on Jan. 20.
The families of both men have been informed.
Another 19 workers were sent to hospital as flames ripped through the mill, destroying a facility that employed about 250 people and has been described as the backbone of the small community.
The B.C. government has appointed forestry industry veteran Bob Clark to work with the community on a plan for economic recovery. The Oregon-based company that owns the mill has not decided whether it will rebuild.
