It was a rough night for goaltenders as the Vancouver Giants defeated the Kamloops Blazers 6-5 in a shootout in Western Hockey League action Saturday night.

Kevin Connauton had the shootout winner for Vancouver (41-25-5), while J.T. Barnett, Milan Kytnar, James Wright and Brett Breitkreuz scored in regulation.

C.J. Stretch, Dalibor Bortnak, Brendan Ranford, Colin Smith, and Linden Saip found the back of the net for Kamloops (32-33-7).

The second largest crowd in Vancouver Giants history - 14,468 - celebrated when Connauton scored in the shootout to clinch the victory. Of five shootout opportunities, only one save was made, by Vancouver's Mark Segal.

Segal made 17 saves in regulation, while the Blazers' Kurtis Mucha stopped 50 shots.
