A high school teacher in Quesnel, B.C., has been charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation following an alleged incident involving a young student in his classroom.

Quesnel RCMP arrested Ronald Ball on June 11 after a single complaint that a student under the age of 16 was touched for a sexual purpose back in March.

The Correlieu Secondary School instructor has been suspended while he awaits his court proceedings.

Ball was released on bail but is prohibited from teaching anyone under the age of 18.

He is scheduled to appear in Quesnel Provincial Court on June 22.

The victim's identity is protected under a publication ban.
