It's common for mayors to make friendly wagers on their home-team in championship matches -- but religious leaders?
Reverend Peter Elliott of Vancouver's Anglican Christ Church Cathedral and Reverend John Streit Jr. of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Boston are wagering on their Stanley Cup teams.
The loser will contribute 250 dollars to a good cause of the winner's choice and will wear the winner's jersey in church on the first Sunday after the finals.
The two men are friends and attended seminary school together in the 1970s.
Neither is sure if special dispensation is necessary to wear the jersey -- but neither is concerned right now because both believe the other guy will be wearing the hockey sweater.
