Charges have now been laid in connection with a 2008 Surrey, B.C., murder in which the victim was beheaded.

Metro Vancouver resident Ernest Allan Hosack was arrested over the weekend and is now charged with the second degree murder of 54-year-old Richard Falardeau.

Falardeau's body was discovered in a house in the 14300 block of 88 Avenue last August. An autopsy revealed that his skull had been removed and was not with the other remains.

The skull was discovered by an area resident three months later in a wooded area near King George Highway.

Police say Falardeau and Hosack knew each other and that Falardeau allowed Hosack to stay with him from time to time.

Hosack was known to police but they say the murder has no links to drugs or gangs.
