Vancouver Canucks winger Alex Burrows underwent surgery on his shoulder Monday to repair damage suffered during the NHL season.

Canucks president and GM Mike Gillis said the surgery was a success and Burrows will begin a rehab program.

"At the conclusion of our season and after further consultation with our medical staff it was determined that shoulder surgery was the required procedure for Alex," Gillis said in a release.

Burrows led the Canucks with 35 goals during the regular season, but scored just three times during the playoffs, two of those into an empty net.
